SCADAPack RemoteConnect and x70 Logic Editor project and configuration files

Project and configuration files associated with SCADAPack RemoteConnect :

ProjectName.PRJ:
The SCADAPack RemoteConnect project file that defines the Device Type Manager (DTM)  structure, communication settings, object configuration, and the configuration for other vendors' DTMs.

ProjectName.RCZ
The compressed archive file that includes the .prj file and the .sta file.
The .rcz file is created when you export a SCADAPack RemoteConnect project.

Configuration.rtz
The manifest configuration file for the SCADAPack x70 device.
This file contains the full configuration that is read from or written to a SCADAPack x70 device.
It does not include project information, such as communication settings, project structure, and configuration information for additional Device Type Managers (DTMs) that is contained in the project (.prj) file.
Also, the RTZ file is used by Geo SCADA when importing the config (see topic "SCADAPack x70 Integration with RemoteConnect" in https://community.exchange.se.com/).

XXXXCSDVx70 Logic Editor manages 5 types of files for storing user applications and projects. Each type of file can be used according to specific requirements.
File types can be identified by their extension:

  • *.STU: Unity File
  • *.STA: Unity Archived Application File
  • *.XEF: Unity Application Exchange File
  • *.ZEF: Unity Full Application Exchange File
  • *.ZTX: Unity Window Context File
  • *.BAK: Unity Backup File
STU File:
This file type is used for daily working tasks. This format is used by default when opening or saving a user project.

STA File:
This file type is used for archiving projects and can be created only after the project has been generated. This file type allows forward compatibility between the different versions of Unity Pro.
When upgrading to a new RemoteConnect version, be sure to either build the logic and save the project, or export the project to an RCZ file. Then open either the PRJ or RCZ file in the new version, and continue configuring as per normal. Failure to build and save in the previous version will result in the loss of the last set of changes to logic when you open the project in the new version.

XEF File:
This file type is used for exporting projects in an XML source format and can be created at any stage of a project.
ZEF File:
This file type is used for exporting projects with global DTMs configuration and can be created at any stage of a project.

ZTX File:
A Unity .ZTX file saves the Unity window context. It ensures Unity windows have the same arrangement when the project is opened or closed.

BAK File:
Each time an STU file is saved, a backup copy is also created, with the same name as the STU file, and the extension BAK files. By changing the file extension from BAK to STU, it is possible to revert to the state the project was, the last time it was saved. BAK files are stored in the same folder as the project STU file.
