Can the Primary and Secondary be run together on the e14/36/3

      - Can the Primary and Secondary be run together?
Preferably not - but this is impacted by the distance they are run together. If the distance is short, i.e. a few metres then not a problem. If it is more distance then need to segregate. It is difficult to give an exact answer as there are dependencies. If they were separate by 1m then any distance would be ok.

      - Is segregation required, and if so what is the advised segregation distance and type (conduit etc)
As above - at least 1m would meet all circumstances. Type of conduit does not really matter as the distance provides the segregation rather than any shielding from conduit.

Why do I get an E1189 error when trying to import an I_SCALE instruction into my M340 Unity program?

The I_SCALE instruction is not supported in the M340 PAC. The SCALING block can be used instead.

Can the Concept "Search/Replace" tool in the Variable Editor be used to replace array indexes?

No. There is not a way within Concept to automatically replace array indexes. For example: variablename.[5] to variablename.[6].

Why do I get an "automatic recover about to occur cerrno=0:error0" message when I attempt to launch Concept?

One possible cause is the contents of the C:\Windows\Temp\Concept\ folder. You can delete or rename this folder so that Concept creates a new one when launched again.

How do I configure the PID2 instruction in ProWORX?

Attached you will an application note that covers the basics of the PID2 instruction.
      8256.zip

Using ProWORX or Modsoft, how can I scale my Momentum 0-4095 PID2 Mv (Output) value to a 0-32000 INT with the result in a single register?

      See attached resolution.
      Scaling 0-4095 to 0-32000.pdf

How can I create a 'flasher' circuit using Concept IEC FBD programming?

There are many ways to program this, but the attached video illustrates using 2 Timers so that you can define the duration and frequency of the flasher.

Can I display Network comments in a Unity Pro 984LL network from an imported ProWORX database?

No. If you want to display comments on a 984LL network in logic, you must use a text box (F8). The Network comments that are imported from ProWORX become part of network properties and are displayed on printouts but not in live logic.

How can I calculate the amount of user memory words for each 984 ladder logic network?

984 Ladder logic requires one word of either 16-bit or 24-bit memory to uniquely identify each node in a network application program. Contacts and coils occupy one node, and therefore one word. Instructions, which usually comprise two or three nodes, require two or three words, respectively. Other elements that control program scanning such as the start of a network, beginning of a column and horizontal shorts, all use one word of user logic memory as well. Vertical shorts do not consume any words of user memory. For a complete list of all the 984 ladder logic elements and instructions, along with the total number of nodes they consume, please reference the Modicon Ladder Logic Block Library User Guide (part number 840USE10100).

How can I create a copy of my 'Equal' Concept 2.60 project so that I can use it to be 'Equal' from another folder location on my PC?

There is a utility available for this called "Concept Converter". It is automatically installed with a Concept Installation. You can find it by going to <start>, <Concept> and then Concept Converter. After launching this utility, you select <File>, <Export>, then "Project with used DFBs (Re-Connect to Equal)" and browse to the project that you want to export. This will create a new file in the location that the project currently resides with an ASC extension (projectname.asc). You place a copy of this file into the new folder location and use <File>, <Import>, then browse to the new location and select the projectname.asc file and import it. This will create a project at this new location that you can use with Concept and re-connect equal.

Do I need a CHS instruction programmed in Segment one, Network one, of my ProWORX 32 v2.1 project in order for my Quantum Hot Standby configuration to function properly?

No. With ProWORX 32 v2.1, you can use 'Configuration Extensions' in Lieu of the CHS instruction.
You will still be required to install the CHS loadable so that Hot Standby is configurable from 'Configuration Extensions'.

You will also need to define a configuration extension size in the controller properties. The Quantum Hot Standby extension uses 18 words.

Why does the output of my INTEGRATOR block stop updating?

The INTEGRATOR block will lock up because the Output value of the integration eventually becomes too large for the controller to handle The controllers must have an upper limit as to how large and how many significant digits it can count.

To overcome this we suggest moving the INTEGRATOR output to a table of registers every X amount of time and then adding those values.

      In the example below:
The controller has the time of day registers configured and running.
At the change of every hour the EQ_INT block compares the hour to the literal value of 23.
When they are equal the R2T block move the current value in Output to a table of registers.
The RS block will set the INTEGRATOR block in manual mode send the initialization value of 0.0 to the output,
The block can continue Integrating again from 0.0.
At the next 23rd hour the process will be begin again.

The real value in the table can be added together at the users convenience.

Note: The above is not a complete and working application, the user will have to:

Create additional logic to trigger the hour compare once an hour.
      Create a Real_Array datatype
Ensure the R2T and INTEGRATOR blocks only get pulsed once per X hour period.
Determine a good time frame for their process to move the accumulated Integration.
