ION Enterprise 5.6 builds 447 and 448 will not upgrade to SP2 on client machine, secondary server, or database server

This customer support bulletin identifies a potential issue with ION Enterprise 5.6 B447 and 448 when upgrading to Service Pack 2, and explains the resolution.
Description:
There is a problem with the ION E 5.6 SP2 Installer when executed against builds 447 and 448 of ION Enterprise 5.6. The problem results in an upgrade installation failure when run on a client machine, secondary server or database server. The upgrade of a primary server will succeed When the SP2 install fails, the customer is left with the pre-existing version (5.6 or 5.6 SP1). This rollback will not appear to impact the function of the client, secondary or database server, but will leave the customer with a system where the primary is using a different version than the other machines; an unsupported configuration which may result in data and connection errors. We have determined that the stated builds were delivered during May, June and July 2007. The issue does not affect build 449, which has been in release since July 31st, 2007.

Resolution:
A modified version of the service pack will be available for download from the website by October 13th, 2008, at 12:00 PM GMT. Any installation of Service Pack 2, whether by the customer or a proxy on behalf of the customer, must use the modified version. The modified version will work with build 449 as well.

Workaround:
The following workaround is available for customers unable to wait for the modified version of the service pack. However, as the workaround involves shipment and end-customer delivery of a CD, it is likely that downloadable service pack will be available by the time the workaround can be implemented. In addition, there are steps which should be taken in the event the customer needs to upgrade a database server, and we strongly suggest tech support be contacted if this is the case.

  1. Verify the customer is using build 447 or 448 of ION Enterpise 5.6, as the following is not necessary if they are using build 449. To verify, open the file "ION Enterprise5.6Setup.log" on the client, secondary or database server. Note: If you have previously installed Service Pack 1, open the file called "ION Enterprise_5.6_SetupLog(1).log" instead. The build will be listed on the 15th line, and will resemble "OK (0) ION Enterprise 5.6 build 448".
  2. Request a new ION Enterprise 5.6 CD via PMC Technical Support. All new versions use build 449.
  3. Upon delivery, uninstall ION Enterprise 5.6.
  4. Re-Install using the delivered CD.
  5. Install Service Pack 2. At this point, the version of the service pack is not of consequence, as there is no issue with build 449.

What is W48 on my Conext XW+/SW?

Issue
The W48 warning comes on when I am inverting, and the Control Panel beeps and flashes.

Product Line
XW, Conext XW+, Conext SW

Environment
Battery based inverters typically used off-grid, or during power outages.

Cause
W48 is related to F48.  F48 is the Low Battery Cut Out Fault.  In our inverter, the W48 warning appears when the battery voltage reaches the Low Battery Cut Out setting plus 2Vdc.

Resolution
Acknowledge the fault, and recognize that the battery may need charging.  The warning can be avoided by lowering the LBCO, but that also means that the inverter is allowed to use more of the battery when it is inverting.  If a generator is available, this would be a good time to turn the generator on to charge.  This can also occur if there is a large load that drags the battery bank voltage down while running.  This type of scenario is fairly normal for smaller sized battery banks.  The fault can also be cleared manually using an SCP or Combox if the battery voltage has increased past the warning threshold.

What are the maximum IO counts for the M251 using the TM3 Expansion modules?

For discrete IO modules, you can have up to 488 digital IO counts.
For Analog IO modules, you can have up to 114 analog IO counts.

Cause:

The fault clears and the inverter restarts when DC voltage reaches VLBCO+2 V (24 V system) and VLBCO+4 V (48 V system).

What is the right way to connect and chain the MET 148, MSA 141, and DSM 303 accessories on the Sepam 20 or 40?

Goals and Symptoms

What is the right way to connect and chain the MET 148, MSA 141, and DSM 303 accessories on the Sepam 20 or 40?

Causes and Fixes

On the D Port you have to connect and chain in order:

(1) MSA 141

(2) MET 148 ( Attention: Option 2 MET 148 for Sepam 40 only )

(3) DSM 303 (Always at the end of this chain and only if no more than 2 accessories already connected on Sepam)

Note: you can't connect more 3 accessories on this chain so if you already have 1 MSA 141 and 2 MET 148 it is impossible to set also 1 DSM 303. In this case if you want to put this DSM 303, you have to remove the MSA 141 or 1 MET 148.

Key words and phrases: MSA141, MET148, DSM303

What is the difference Between NSX Vigi Block  LV429210 & LV431535?

LV429210 - Is Vigi block MH type for NSX100/160 (200 to 440 V)

LV431535 - Is Vigi block MH type for NSX250 (200 to 440 V)

Even though Tech datasheet specifies the LV429210 is rated for NSX upto 250, It is recommeded to use the VIgi module only for NSX 100/160.

However, LV431535 can be used for NSX100/160/250.

For Sepam 80: what is the correct order for adding the accessories MSA 141, MET 148, DSM 303, and MCS 025?

Goals and Symptoms

For Sepam 80: what is the correct order for adding the accessories MSA 141, MET 148, DSM 303, and MCS 025?

Causes and Fixes

The Sepam 80 has got 2 Ports. Using these, it is always possible to be able add all the different accessories that one might need for the Sepam 80.
On the D1 port, connect in order the MSA 141, next 1 or 2 MET 148 ( 1 MET 148 if you use also DSM 303) and next at the end the DSM 303

On the D2 port, connect in order the Second MET 148 and the MCS 025 at the end.

Rule:
You can connect a maximum of three accessories on each port (D1 or D2).
The DSM 303 and the MCS 025 have to be always at the end of this chain. So if you use these 2 Accessories DSM and MCS on same Sepam 80, you have to use necessarily the 2 ports ( i.e. set the DSM at the end of D1 and set the MCS 025 at the end of D2)

Are the ATS48 keypads UV protected from direct sunlight?

The remote terminal VW3G48101 is delivered as a kit comprising:
- the keypad,
- a mounting kit containing a cover, screws and an IP 54 seal on the front panel to be positioned on the door of a floor-standing enclosure,
- a 3 m connecting cable (SUB_D9/RJ45).

The keypad itself is not UV protected, but the mounting kit uses a plastic material which is UV resistant.

Even though the mounting kit parts are UV resistant, note the following remarks:
- take care about the temperature (sunlight can warm up the keypad)
- direct sunlight on the screen display can reduce readability.

What is a 'Sliding Window' in Transparent Ready TCP communications and do Transparent Ready devices support it?

A Sliding Window is a variable receive buffer capacity that is advertised in the 16 bit Window packet section of the TCP Header. This is how a transmitting device advertises the current receive buffer capacity to the sender. The 174CEV30010 and 174CEV30020 Modbus to Ethernet bridges support a sliding window. For example, if the CEV buffer starts out at 512 bytes capacity and there is an outstanding Modbus message size of 14 bytes, the advertised window will be 498 bytes in the response. Note that most PLC services support a fixed receive buffer window size.

Testing XW AGS auto-start function

 Testing XW AGS auto-start function

By setting the 30 second start voltage higher than the actual battery voltage, the auto-start function can be tested
as long as no grid voltage is passing thru AC1, otherwise the AGS will not be called upon to start.
Temporarily disable charge controllers to allow the battery voltage to rest. Make sure no sensitive electronics
are needed during this time because they may see the grid interruption and reset.
Make sure to set the 30 sec start voltage back down to a reasonable level after
test is completed. LBCO must be set lower than 30 sec start voltage.
Recommended settings :
30 second start V : 46.5 (23.5 for 24V model)
Stop Absorb
LBCO : 44V (22V for 24V model)

All other start/stop parameters should be disabled.

Cause:
What does it mean when I get an “428 generic alarm” at my ISX-GEN-ATS Smart Gen ATS panel?

This alarm means “water in the fuel” go to Generator for more detail.

Resolution:
The alarm that’s set at the APC-Schneider ATS panel display is a generic Generator alarm/ event, to obtain more description you must go to the Generator and check the alarms. Use Fault Acknowledge button to clear the alarm at the generator. After the alarm has cleared at the generator then check the ATS alarm is also cleared, if it is not cleared then toggle the automatic operation switch from auto to manual (reset) and back to auto to clear any latched alarms at the ATS panel.

Cummins FSR/ Generator repair tech should be called to look over the Genset fuel system and determine how to fix and clear the alarms. It’s possible you have water in the fuel/ water separator filter and that would need to be drained. Otherwise, some sort of sensing failure of this water in fuel sensing circuit. Call your Generator service company

Une désinstallation de l'antivirus (dans le cas particulier du client en question, Norton antivirus) permet de résoudre le problème.
A ce jour, un seul client a rencontré ce type de problème.

What are the details for the heat dissipation for the Preventa XPSAC and XPSECME safety modules?

Criterion for relay contacts to be worn out electrically is contact resistance is >= 100 mOhm.

Given two contacts with 100 mOhm each in line and the thermal sum current of 10,5 A distributed over 3 channels in case of XPSAC gives a maximum heat dissipation of 7,35 W in the output channels of the XPSAC.
Given two contacts with 100 mOhm each in line and the thermal sum current of 12 A distributed over 6 channels in case of XPSECME gives a maximum heat dissipation 4,8 W in the output channels of the XPSECME.

Initial contact resistance is below 15 mOhms, which results in much lower dissipation of 1,1 W resp. 0,7 W (values for the circuit breakers were given for new contacts).
Thus the actual dissipation depends on load and wear conditions of the contacts.

Another important factor for heating of the relays is arcing and, in case of arcing, switching frequency.
Given calculation is valid for use that can be assumed static and no arcing.
The dissipation in the outputs add to the power consumption of the module given in the data sheet.

What would cause the ATV930 process drive to get a precharge capacitor fault?

Issue:
What would cause the ATV930 process drive to get a precharge capacitor fault?

Product Line:
ATV930 process drives

Environment:
All

Cause:
DC bus tie with another drive

Resolution:
In a configuration where the drive is connected and supplied by another drive via the DC bus, set DCBS parameter (Generic Functions/DC-Bus Ref Link) to "Drive with REC" as shown in the attachment. This will avoid "Precharge Capacitor" faults due to power supplied direct to the DC bus.

[Complete settings] -> [Generic functions] -> [dbS] -> [dCbS] -> [Drive with REC]

More details can be found on page 441 of the ATV900 Programming Manual:
https://www.schneider-electric.com/en/download/document/NHA80757/

Note: the ATV600 series is not designed for applications where the DC bus is powered from an external DC source.

Cannot enable SSL HTTPS port 443 communication on ISX Central 3.0.1, 4.0 or 4.1

Issue:

Cannot enable SSL HTTPS port 443 communication on ISX Central 3.0.1, 4.0 or 4.1

Product Line:

InfraStruxure Central

Environment:

InfraStruXureCentral version 3.0.1, 4.0 or 4.1

Cause:

If no SSL certificate is installed, SSL communication cannot be activated on the ISX Central interface

Resolution:

Symptoms:
Enabling the checkbox SSL (menu Tools -> Server Administration -> Server settings -> Server access -> HTTPS port 443 -> enable) on the ISX Central console will lead to rebooting the device without any changes taken. After the reboot the box will be unchecked again, no SSL functionality will be given.

Background:
In order to establish communication via SSL, a certificate must be existent in the ISX Central device.

Solution:
Check on the ISX Central console in menu Tools -> Server Administration -> Server settings -> Server security -> Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for an existing certificate. If the original APC-MGE certificate has been removed, a self-signed certificate needs to be issued and uploaded into the unit. APC-MGE does not provide the certificate once it has been removed from the unit. You will find help on how to create a self-signed SSL certificate on the internet, since this is depending on your specific needs and what type of certificate you want to use - APC-MGE does not offer a tool to create such a certificate

What is the replacement for the High HP ATS01N softstarters?

Issue:
Wants to order the ATS01N230LY, ATS01N244LY, ATS01N272LY or ATS01N285LY

Product line:
ATS01, Altistart 01, High HP

Environment:
All models

Cause:
The launch of the ATS22 in 2011 caused the High HP units to become redundant.

Resolution:

The ATS01 High HP units were replaced with the ATS22 units.  These are functional replacements only.  The ATS01 had no overload protection, an internal power supply and simple dial adjustments.  The ATS22 will require external 120V or 230V power.  There are no dials to adjust, but the unit will need to be programmed.  See the ATS22 User Maual, document BBV51300 to review the wiring, dimensions and programming.

ATS01N230LY - 32A rated.  Replaced by ATS22D32S6U
