VJD V4.4 : how to optimize an application ?

Goals and Symptoms

Procedure to optimize a VJD V4.4 application :

  • Running the same application for Vijeo-Designer 4.4 requires about 800 KB more DRAM memory than 4.3 on XBTGT1000 and all XBTG Series targets.
This could be a problem for customers using XBTG in 4.4 because the runtime could crash with a Memory Allocation Error at some point.
XBTGT2000 Series targets and up should not experience this problem because their DRAM memory is at least twice the size of that on XBTG Series targets.

R&D is currently working to have the memory requirement for running 4.4 reduced to what was needed for 4.3.
The fix should be available in the next patch release (Vijeo-Designer 4.4 patch A).

However, before the fix is available, a short-term solution for customers wanting to upgrade to 4.4 is required.

The procedure for doing this is as follows :

Causes and Fixes

See attached file : procedure to optimize a VJD V4.4 application.

What input supply changes are necessary to feed a 208v Symmetra LX 240 VAC?

Symmetra LX can automatically adjust to input voltage between 200 and 240 volts. No change to the system is required to accommodate these voltages.  However, it is best practice to set the output voltage and frequency to match the input voltage and frequency.  This will help avoid problems with bypass operation of the UPS.  These changes can be made via the front display or the network management card.

How to transfer a Vijeo designer project from a PC with the OS Win 7 (64 bits) to a target type Magelis XBTGT1000 serie using XBTZG925 cable?

Goals and Symptoms

How to transfer a Vijeo designer project from a PC with the OS Win 7 (64 bits) to a target type Magelis XBTGT1000 serie using XBTZG925 cable?

Facts and Changes

When using Vijeo Designer V6.1 installed on a PC with the OS Windows 7 (64 bit) and a XBTGT1100 terminal : the problem is that we cannot install the XBTZG925 cable driver.

Causes and Fixes

This is a limitation. There is only a Win XP XBTZG925 cable driver.

The reason is that Marketing decided that the target type XBTGT1000 serie End Of Commercialization and End Of Service will be in end of 2012.
The solutions are:
1/ either edit the Vijeo designer project on a PC with Win XP Pro,
2/ either replace the XBTGT1000 serie by a terminal type XBTGT1005 serie,
3/ or replace the XBTGT1000 serie by a terminal type XBTGTO
Note that solutions 2/ & 3/ with new terminals are less expansive and higher quality.

What is the explanation of the Parameter FLC1 in TeSys T.

FLC1 is the parameter to enter the Motor nominal current in TeSys T. In this parameter, the Motor nominal current is entered as a percentage of the rated value of the TeSys T.

Example:

For TeSys T of range 8Amps (LTMR08) and a motor of 2 Amps nominal current, you have to set the FLC1 value to 25% because the Motor nominal current is 25% of the full load current of TeSys T Module (LTMR08).

This means that the current in register 466 (value of current in percent) take the value of 100% when you reach 25% of the current of the TeSys T Module rated current value.

Cannot connect to Sepam with SFT2841 V16.4 and I have other Schneider Electric software using the Modbus Driver

Issue
Cannot connect to Sepam with the SFT2841 software

Product Line
Sepam series 20
Sepam series 40
Sepam series 80

Environment
SFT2841 software
Windows 10
Windows 7

Cause
With the SFT2841 software version V16.4, a certain version of the Schneider Electric Modbus Driver is included with the installation package. If it is necessary to troubleshoot the Modbus Driver installation, some additional work may be required.

An issue may arise in some cases because there are other software applications developed by Schneider Electric that use the same Modbus Driver component as the SFT2841 software, and in some cases they may use different versions of this component compared to SFT2841.

Resolution
Please refer to FA279049 for initial steps to troubleshoot the connection to the Sepam unit

If your installation of the Sepam SFT2841 software V16.4 has completed without any error messages, but you still have problems connecting to your Sepam relay, you can try the following procedure.
  1. Access Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > locate the DriverManager X64 and Modbus Driver X64
  2. Un-install the SFT2841 software
  3. Manually un-install the DriverManager X64 and Modbus Driver X64 identified in Step 1
  4. Reboot your computer/laptop
  5. Run the SFT2841 V16.4 installer again.  Alternatively, you can also use the BOX link below to download the Schneider Modbus Driver suite, which is current as of December 2018.
    • After a successful installation, one should see that the Modbus Driver has been installed again, and this version should be compatible with SFT2841
    • Internet access maybe needed for the DriverManager X64 to be updated to the computer/labtop
  6. With your PC connected to the Internet, update the Sepam Serial Port driver through Windows, as shown in the image below.  Be sure that you wait until Windows has finished updating your Sepam Serial Port driver.
  7. One should now be able to connect to your Sepam device.
Please be aware that other Schneider Electric software that uses this Modbus Driver may not work after following this procedure. The standard practice for Schneider is to ensure compatibility of the latest Modbus Driver version with all current software platforms.  So, normally a new version of both SFT2841 and your other Schneider program (e.g., PLC programming software) should be released later with a Modbus Driver version that is compatible.

Please contact the Sepam Technical Support if you are still having problems connecting to your relay.
For the latest version of SFT2841 please refer to FA180051.

Why is my UPS emitting a single beep every few mins?

Issue:

In isolated instances, APC customers have observed a single beep being randomly emitted from their UPS products.

Product Line:

Back-UPS and Back-UPS PRO

Environment:

N/A

Cause:

In the majority of these cases, it was determined the UPS had transfered to the On Battery State (powering the load from internal batteries) momentarily and returned to the Online State (utility power) before the Onbattery notification (4 beeps every 30 seconds) could be completed.

Resolution:

The purpose of the Onbattery notification is to inform the customer when the UPS has sensed a power anomoly and has begun to power the connected equipment from it's internal batteries.

If a customer observes their UPS switching to the On Battery State frequently, an adjustment to the UPS thresholds for transfer may be required. Customers may reference the steps for adjustment of the UPS in their product's user manual.

Note: In one customer's case, we had observed the UPS emitting a single beep, once every 5 mins exactly. Upon removing the internal battery and reconnecting it, the beeping stopped. Upon testing, the issue was unable to be reproduced.

Causes and Fixes

During normal operation of a GPS time synching system, time signals are sent out once per second as an ASCII string containing the time. The ASCII time string for GPS:ARBITER and GPS:TRUETIME/DATUM is as follows:

<SOH>DDD:HH:MM:SSQ<CR><LF>

Response: <SOH>ddd:hh:mm:ssQ<CR><LF>

Format: <SOH> Hex 01 The start bit of the <SOH> character is transmitted on time.

Q Time quality indicator. May be represented by:

space Locked, maximum accuracy

. (ASCII 46) Error < 1 microsecond

* (ASCII 42) Error < 10 microseconds

# (ASCII 35) Error < 100 microseconds

? (ASCII 63) Error > 100 microseconds

Why is PowerChute not shutting down my Windows system if I leave it at the system logon screen?

Issue:
Why is PowerChute not shutting down my Windows system if I leave it at the system logon screen?

Product Line:
PowerChute Business Edition
PowerChute Network Shutdown

Environment:
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, or Windows 2000 SP3 or late

Cause:
If you leave the system at the Windows logon screen (user ID & password entry screen), neither PowerChute Business Edition nor PowerChute Network Shutdown can shutdown Windows during power failure or scheduled shutdown. It is a Windows' specification.

Under normal circumstance, you get the logon screen after CTRL+ALT+DEL and do not key in any data for about 30 seconds, the system will bring back the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen.

Solution:

Do not enable the "Disable CTRL+ALT+DEL requirement for logon" option found in the Security option of Local Security settings tools in Administrative tools. Do not leave your system with the logon screen.
If you are running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and it is not joined to a domain, follow the steps below to enable the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen.
Start gpedit.msc from the command prompt.
Select Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Template> Logon
Enable the "Always use classic logon" option

Does Schneider Electric offer a drive for 480 vac three phase motor with a 480 vac single phase input voltage?

Issue:
Customer needs a drive for a 460 VAC 50 HP motor, 460 V with single phase power.

Product Line:
Altivar drives

Environment:
All

Cause:
Customer's site only has 480 V single phase line voltage available.

Resolution:
The ATV320 and ATV630 product lines have models that are rated for 480V single phase supply.
See the attached Annex files for details.

Contact the local Drives Product Application Engineer (PAE) or Sales office for approvals of other VFDs for use with 480V single phase supply.

The Annex is the only approved document, so all previous documentation including Pricing Guides, Errata sheets and the letters from Product Management are superseded by these documents and all inquiries regarding this type of application need to be referred to the appropriate published document.

For any 480 V single phase applications outside of the approved ATV320 models, consider contacting Bonitron (https://www.bonitron.com/drive-schneider.html) for possible solutions such as supplying DC voltage direct to the VFD DC bus.  The ATV630 does not have terminal access to the DC bus.

IP protection and gas

Goals and Symptoms

Need to know if the power part with IP54 degree of protection (where is placed the heatsink), of Altivar 71 and 31 is proof (resistant) against the following chimical compound: NPK 8/24/24 - PK 9x36 - UREA 46% N - H8 N2 O4S - PK 14x24 - PK 20x20 - Mg SO4 7 H2O - KC1 60% K2O - K2 SO4 50% K2O - (NH4) 2 HPO4 - NH4 H2 PO4 - Ca (H2 PO4) 2 and "ammonium nitrate" with a percetage of nitrogen. I apologize for the "strange" question but I kindly ask you help for to give an answer to our customer. Please take care of this request ASAP because is very urgent (our PAE should give an answer for tomorrow).

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) or Safety data Sheets (SDS) for Batteries Used in APC UPS Systems

Issue:

I require the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS)  for various APC UPS products.

Product Line:

All APC UPS

Environment:

All APC UPS

Cause:

The majority of batteries used in APC by Schneider Electric Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and Replacement Battery Cartridges (RBCs) are contained within cartridges and are sealed, non-spillable, maintenance-free lead acid batteries. The batteries are amanufactured article consisting of a plastic, sealed case, terminals and flame arrestor vent caps. Case color varies. The electrolyte is contained within the case and consists of the electrolyte held captive in an adsorbed glass mat (AGM) or gel matrix. There is no “free” electrolyte to leak out of the case. Under normal use and handling, there is no contact with the internal components of the battery or the chemical hazards. Under normal use and handling, these products do not emit regulated or hazardous substances. The design life of a sealed lead acid battery is 3-5 years depending on environmental factors. Using the batteries past the end of it’s design life can result in electrolyte leakage.

In a few cases, Replacement Battery Cartridges (RBCs) containing High Power Lithium Ion Cell, Phosphate-Based are also used. These batteries are used stricitly in select models found in the Back-UPS Connect family.

Resolution:

Updated Safety Data Sheets for batteries used in all APC products can be found on our Battery Compliance page.

Why is the software not running a Runtime Calibration when using a Share-UPS or Interface Expander card?

Issue

My PowerChute software not running a Runtime Calibration when using a Share-UPS or Interface Expander card. If using PowerNet Manager to initiate calibration, the Runtime Calibration icon will appear for approximately 5 seconds and return to an Online condition. If you are initiating a calibration from PowerChute plus or PowerChute Business Edition, you will receive the message "Runtime calibration cancelled by user."

Product Lines

• Share UPS - AP9207
• SmartSlot Interface Expander - AP9607/AP9607CB
• UPS Models that support these two accessories

Environment

All serial numbers, all firmware versions

Cause

When using a SmartSlot Interface Expander or Share-UPS with a Smart-UPS or Matrix-UPS, all Runtime Calibration commands will immediately be cancelled.

Resolution

This precaution exists so the attached servers do not shut down once the ups reaches a low battery condition.
