Is there a relay to link a Bell Press Mech to a C-Bus Shutter Relay?

Yes. You can fit the 5104BCL, this is a C-Bus coupler input unit. It has been designed
to be an intermediary between non cbus switches and the C-bus network.

Some of the features of this product include:

  • Used to interface up to 4 standard voltage- free mechanical switches, including latching and toggle switches to C-Bus
  • Supports onboard scenes
  • Used to interface up to 2 standard voltage free mechanical switches, including latching and toggle switches to C-Bus
  • The unit is designed to fit into a standard wall box
  • Each unit features a programmable status indicator
  • The maximum distance between the unit and an external voltage free switch is limited to 1m
  • Units draw 18 mA from a C-Bus network

Can you send a command to a C-Bus Coupler to switch a contact like an Alarm AUX, or Roller Door motor?

No, the C-Bus Coupler is not able to output to or control a connection to it, the Bus Coupler will only recognize a contact closure and then send a command onto the C-Bus to perform an action.

These are typically used for a status of a contact being either open or closed, or when a C-Bus switch is not suitable in the environment. For example you might need a IP rated switch in a cool room, this mechanical switch will connect to the inputs of the Bus Coupler which in turn when switched will send a command onto C-Bus.

Is it possible to source a C-Bus switch which is weatherproof?

There are no C-Bus switches made as weatherproof. There are 2 options for solutions.

1 - Install a product such as a cover, flap or shroud that protects a C-Bus switch better. E.g. 255, 223H, WS226.
2 - Any general electrical switch can be 'coupled' to C-Bus so it can act as a C-Bus switch on the network.
The C-Bus Bus Coupler part name is as follows 5102BCLEDL or 5104BCL.

How can you create a C-Bus Mech that is IP Rated?

5104BCL coupling unit will fit into a PDL56PB1GNLEGY + PDL56E1GY.

This will give a outdoors switch compatible with Cbus that will be rated IP66.

Is the 5104BCL non isolated?

As stated in section 2.0 of installation instructions:

"Then input channels of the 5104BCL are NOT isolated"
