Does the Resi9 SPD require an additional protection device (MCB)?

We recommend using Resi9 MCB backup protection device for Resi9 SPD, 1P 40A MCB (R9F06140) for 1P SPD (R9L40100).
Why a back up protection is necessary?
(1) Protect upstream fuse/breaker - cascading
(2) Ensure the power can be turned back on until the SPD is replaced in the event of SPD trip

When does the Resi9 SPD need to be replaced?

The Resi9 surge protection device (SPD) comes with an end of life indication flag on the front face.
When the flag is white, the product will continue to help protect the installation against surges.
However when the flag turns red, the SPD cartridge needs to be replaced to continue to protect the installation against surge currents.
