How do I fix this Citect Setup Editor script error?

Summary
Opening the Setup Editor to edit the INI parameters of a project causes an error show, quoting a script error on the page. This pop up error will ask if you would like to continue running scripts on the page, with no apparent negative effect if you press yes. The wording of the error can be slightly varied, however the solution is the same.

Actions
The script error is related to using an unsupported version of Internet Explorer (IE). It is best practice to use the most recent version of IE available. Citect SCADA 2016 requires IE9 or greater to be used, else errors such as this will be displayed. For context, Windows 7 comes with IE8 installed. Updating IE will fix this script error.
